Harassment

The crime of harassment has many forms, causing varying degrees of distress and harm to its victims: information, support and practical assistance can help alleviate the situation.

People who report harassment sometimes feel the authorities do not take their situation seriously or are unable to protect them from further abuse. People who suffer from the threatening behaviour of stalkers can also feel isolated and insecure and unsure of how best to get help.

Victims of racial harassment often face additional difficulties getting help and protection and preventing further abuse. Children and young people facing bullying and harassment may feel alone and vulnerable. Victim Support understands these issues: our trained volunteers and staff provide independent, confidential and free support, information and practical help.

We can help you deal with Criminal Justice procedures and can support you if your case goes to court.

We can also put you in touch with specialist agencies and help you liaise with the authorities. If, like many victims of harassment, you have not reported this, or other incidents, Victim Support can provide confidential and independent support.

Our trained volunteers and staff can:

  • Provide you with information about the Criminal Justice system and support you through the process.
  • Put you in touch with other agencies who can help.
  • Assist you with claims for Criminal Injuries Compensation.

All our services are free and confidential whether you have reported the crime to the Police or not. Call 01856 877554 to talk to our local Coordinator or leave a message. Alternatively, you can call the National Helpline on 0845 603 9213.

Victim Support can arrange a translation service if you are not an English speaker.
